NaPoWriMo ~ Day 4

All caught up, whew! It has taken me a little while to get all caught up and current. At the same time, flexing my poetry writing muscles to write four poems in a day has been a guilty pleasure. The prompt for today’s poem at NaPoWriMo is to write a poem with a secret….something which you allude to without ever actually naming what it is.

Lying in wait, till the time is right they feast on anything that moves on or beneath the surface

Emerging from the water, they skip and glide speedily

Until taking wing and rising into the air with four clear wings

Iridescent bodies zipping to and fro, or hovering like a helicopter

With all seeing eyes they take to the sky, devouring insects like candy

All the while enchanting humans with their rainbow abdomens and fae-like wings
